Accountability is everything when you are a person of influence and make aggrecious mistakes, but that only seems to apply to certain types of people — the multidisciplinary artist, Tom Sachs, clearly is not in that group.

Before jumping in, I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention that I actively tried to reach out to nearly 10 influential media outlets to write about this major issue but not one wanted to pursue it.

One of them being Highsnobiety, which used to be one of my favorite media outlets and a place I’ve written for many times, but the brand has become a shade of itself in recent years (to date they haven’t even acknowledged the issue while rivals Hypebeast have multiple times).

The brief not so brief lowdown on Tom Sachs (bear with me here)

Tom Sachs, is most known for subverting popular culture via his physical art pieces and oddly specific art philosophies (they are also sold via merch).

One of his more popular concepts play with basic consumer products to put together unique pieces like the re-contexualized McDonald’s to Tiffany’s happy meal constructed from cardboard, paper, ink and heat adhesive.
