Spiders Are Amazing — The Exhibit That Changed My Phobia
Today I visited an exhibit at the NYC’s The Shed called Particular Matter(s) by Tomas Saraceno.
The gallery showing detailed the intricate webs that spiders make via an experiential installation that allowed viewers to lay on wiring 90-feet in the air similar to that of a web. The wiring was then moved via vibrations with spider communications playing in the background.
After that we heading into an extensive exhibit showing the 10-year research on spiders, how they communicate, the intricacies of their webs and the different beliefs countries around the world have about spiders.
Right now it’s the best exhibit I’ve been to in 2022!
As a result, it got me thinking about where the fear of spiders came from in my own life and why we are trained at young ages to despise them when other cultures are taught to respect them.
Personally, I’ve been fascinated with spiders since adolescence, one of my fav movies (when I could finally watch it) for a while as 8 legged freaks.
